Week 15 - 9/25 - 10/1

Great effort yesterday at Nike Portland XC for those who attended!  Twenty athletes set a new lifetime personal best time while all but a handful of you ran a new season best time.  We are excited to see continued improvement as we begin to refine our training and go into races more rested than we have to this point.  Results from Nike Portland XC are available at http://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/Results/Meet.aspx?Meet=114644#/263.

Here are this week's announcements:

End of Season Banquet

Our end of season banquet is scheduled for Friday, November 11th at 6pm in Aspen Hall at Shevlin Park.  All athletes and family members are encouraged to come and celebrate the end of our season!  The event does tend to be fairly long because we feel it is important to recognize every athlete - expect it to last till about 9pm.  We will have food catered from Tate and Tate with both a meat and vegetarian option.  The team will cover the cost of all team athletes - please let us know if you are not attending so that we don't order you a meal.  Family members may attend for free, but if you wish to eat meals are $11/person and must be paid in advance on Touchbase which is currently setup for payment: https://touchbase.bend.k12.or.us/

Nutrition for Female High School Athletes

Footzone is offering a free clinic specific to nutrition for female high school athletes led by Stephanie Howe, Ph. D, a nationally renowned ultra runner who lives in Bend.  She will talk about energy needs specific to high school females, why its important to talk about eating disorders, the female triad, and why female nutrition needs are different than males.  This is a free clinic held at Footzone at 7pm on Thursday, October 6th.  Megan is planning to attend and we encourage female athletes and their parents to consider attending as well!
