Week 16 - 10/2 - 10/8

We had some great performances yesterday at the Oxford Classic, but the pressure is on with just a few weeks left before Districts!  We will be reviewing some of the results as a team at practice this week.  Results are available at http://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/Results/Meet.aspx?Meet=114550#/263.

Here are this week's announcements:

Next Saturday, October 8th we will be co-hosting the Juniper Preview with Ridgeview on the district race course.  There will be a single race for boys and a single race for girls (no varsity/jv).  Boys will race at 9:30 AM and Girls at 10:15 AM.  Meet at the MV Bus Loop at 7:00 to catch the bus to Juniper Golf Course.  There is a community run at 8am before the high school race that is $10 with all proceeds benefiting our two programs.  If you are interested in participating you can signup online at www.playjuniper.com

End of Season Banquet

Our end of season banquet is scheduled for Friday, November 11th at 6pm in Aspen Hall at Shevlin Park.  All athletes and family members are encouraged to come and celebrate the end of our season!  The event does tend to be fairly long because we feel it is important to recognize every athlete - expect it to last till about 9pm.  We will have food catered from Tate and Tate with both a meat and vegetarian option.  The team will cover the cost of all team athletes - please let us know if you are not attending so that we don't order you a meal.  Family members may attend for free, but if you wish to eat meals are $11/person and must be paid in advance on Touchbase which is currently setup for payment: https://touchbase.bend.k12.or.us/

Uniform Returns

We still have not received old jerseys and shorts back from a number of athletes with our new uniforms out.  Please make sure to bring these in to avoid a fine on your student account.  Fines will be $20 each for old jerseys and shorts.

Nutrition for Female High School Athletes

Footzone is offering a free clinic specific to nutrition for female high school athletes led by Stephanie Howe, Ph. D, a nationally renowned ultra runner who lives in Bend.  She will talk about energy needs specific to high school females, why its important to talk about eating disorders, the female triad, and why female nutrition needs are different than males.  This is a free clinic held at Footzone at 7pm on this Thursday, October 6th.  Megan is planning to attend and we encourage female athletes and their parents to consider attending as well!

Flap Jack Giveback Fundraiser

All Seasons RV & Marine is hosting a high school sports fundraiser throughout the month of October and Mountain View Cross Country will be the beneficiary of the event on October 22nd.  We will need a couple adult volunteers and a small group of athletes to help with this.  If you are available to volunteer from 9-11am on the 22nd, please let me know!
