Week 18 - 10/16 - 10/22

Another great day of racing yesterday Cougs!

Both our boys and girls had some excellent performances despite less than ideal conditions, pushing our boys ahead of Bend High in hypothetical results by 2 points and bringing our girls within 1 point.  We are in for an exciting District race!  Results from the George Fox XC Classic are available at:  http://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/Results/Meet.aspx?Meet=114563#/263

Here are this week's announcements:

Central Oregon Relays

Mountain View is hosting its third race of the season on Wednesday, October 19th at Pine Nursery Park.  For those of you unfamiliar with this race it is a relay format race in which you can choose your own team (either male, female, or coed).  We will finalize teams at practice on Tuesday.  All teams start the race at 3pm.  Costumes are encouraged.

Fore more information on the meet go to: http://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/Results/Meet.aspx?Meet=114908#/263

District Meet / Uniforms

We will be announcing those attending the District Meet, including those running varsity, at practice this week.  If you are not attending Districts we will have uniform turn-ins next Monday (10/24) at the XC tree from 2:45 - 3:15.  Please wash your uniform before returning.  Students who do not return their old and new uniform will be fined for each item not turned in.

End of Season Banquet

Our end of season banquet is scheduled for Friday, November 11th at 6pm in Aspen Hall at Shevlin Park (However, we are considering a change in date, due to a number of athletes that are interested in attending the Nike Cross Regionals in Boise on Saturday, November 12th.  Some of our team captains are trying to organize this, however, it is not a team event and there will be no coaches present - we are looking at a revised date for the banquet of Monday, November 7th to accommodate their attendance, but are still confirming if this change is possible).  All athletes and family members are encouraged to come and celebrate the end of our season!  The event does tend to be fairly long because we feel it is important to recognize every athlete - expect it to last till about 9pm.  We will have food catered from Tate and Tate with both a meat and vegetarian option.  The team will cover the cost of all team athletes - please let us know if you are not attending so that we don't order you a meal.  Family members may attend for free, but if you wish to eat, meals are $11/person and must be paid in advance on Touchbase which is currently setup for payment:

We need some volunteers to help with setup between 5-6pm for the banquet.  We could also use two volunteers to bring desert or cake.  If you are willing to help in either capacity please let me know!  Also, we could use more photos for the banquet slideshow.  If you have taken any at races please email them to me.

Flap Jack Giveback Fundraiser

All Seasons RV & Marine is hosting a high school sports fundraiser throughout the month of October and Mountain View Cross Country will be the beneficiary of the event on October 22nd.  We need about 10 athletes to attend from 9-11.  Thank you to the Mike & Laura for volunteering to chaperone!

Winter/Spring Sports

With cross country coming to an end shortly, we strongly encourage all athletes to participate in another sport during the winter and spring seasons to maintain fitness for next cross country season.  The Nordic Ski team is a popular option among our team and highly recommended by our coaching staff.  No experience is necessary and the program owns all necessary ski equipment to make it affordable for all families.  There is an information night scheduled for Wednesday, October 26th in the MVHS cafeteria.  We are also working on an exciting program to encourage maintaining running fitness throughout the year - more details to come!
